Tips for Parents
Tips for parents who want to foster their children’s enthusiasm for music
Piano and/or voice lessons are a great way for children to learn general musical concepts and music theory. Encourage your children by showing genuine interest and offer them rewards and incentives for practicing music. Make music a part of your daily life: listening/dancing to a variety of musical styles can fill a home with joy. Take your children to musical events. Make music as a family. You can even create instruments with water glasses, bottles, cans and other materials. It is hard to beat the sheer joy of making music in itself!
Recent research shows that children who receive even a few years of music lessons have brains that mature faster. Music training during childhood can benefit language acquisition, speech perception and the readiness to read. Music can help contribute to the development of a more creative mind.
