SUMMER FUN – Ideas
I want to encourage parents to foster their children’s creativity, especially after reading a recent study that suggests that four-year olds are better than adults at solving various learning problems, problems which require to think “outside the box”.
With summer break just around the corner, children are looking forward to a variety of fun activities in nature, with family or at summer camps. Just earlier today a student mentioned a backpacking trip she enjoyed recently. Besides spending a lot of time in nature, which I think is essential for us all, children can also benefit from nurturing their creative side, for example by drawing, painting, writing poetry, composing songs, inventing dances or making music, even as a family. I am impressed by the imagination and enthusiasm of my piano and voice students when they work on songwriting projects. Some children also enjoy inventing their own lyrics to a tune/song they like.
